FREE STYLE WITH FLAIR
The Flares are the fast-freestyle boards designed by our riders for our riders. Taty Frans, Kiri Thode, Frank Diaz and Sara Quita Offringa developed the range around the idea of mixing speed and freestyle for an explosive combination. Instant power, pin point control and aerial balance lets you fire up any trick with more speed, more style and more smiles.
What's new?
The Flare 99 and 111 have a new wider, fatter tail design that pops you up on the plane, switching on acceleration and power at will. These new shapes will give you more tolerance and more float for longer slides and faster tail rides. There's also a new constant-curve rocker that boosts aerial pop and improves maneuverability. The trademark heel gutters first introduced back in 2005 continue in 2008, increasing deck-dome to provide impeccable comfort and grip.
The Flare 60, 72 and 88 continue unchanged for 2008 with their slalom rockerline and slalom vee: these are the team's weapon of choice for high wind conditions or lighter riders.

Suitable sail types are Freestyle sails. Freeride and Wave sails can be suitable too.
Compared to the Kombat range, the Flares are quicker in acceleration and are better in freestyle aerial control, reverse sliding and rotational sliding. They are built lighter and feature inboard footstrap settings only, with no compromise towards waveriding. The Kombats would be more suitable if the rider is looking for more carving maneuverability with advanced wave-riding performance, freeride blasting ability and recreational-freestyle ability all in a 'one board' package.
Compared to the Futura range, the Flares are more dynamic and offer more dedicated Freestyle abilities by not compromising on aerial control and natural responsiveness. They would however not perform as well in straight-line, jibing and blasting conditions which the freeride Futuras are dedicated at. The Futra range would be more suitable for those who only occasionally try freestyle maneuvers, and spend more time blasting and jibing.
Construction: Built in a freestyle specifi c construction, the Flare boards feature lightweight single sandwich technology combined with oversized reinforcements and a 3/4 deck reinforcement in Carbon-Kevlar(TM) placed under the wood for ultimate heel-ding resistance. Technora, Carbon and Carbon-Kevlar(TM)reinforcements are again added in the most stressed areas.
