נראה לי שאולי מישהו צריך לנסוע ולעזור
Dear Sir or Madam,
Your success in maintaining a beach in its natural form is an inspiration for many people around the world, including us.
The town of Cabarete in the Dominican Republic has been a windsurfing, kite surfing Mecca for many years.
In recent years surfers, Laser sailors and mountain bike riders have began to enjoy our are, too.
The special ambiance and scenery with over 300 sails on the water on a windy day have brought here real estate developers who have no consideration to the long term benefit of the town. These developers are looking for ways to build 8 to 12 story buildings in an area that is restricted to 11.5 meters in height.
We expect these towers to kill the wind close to shore, thus making launching of windsurfing and kitesurfers impossible. We also expect major traffic Jams on Cabarete's only little road, and huge environmental effect on the sweet water lagoon that is part of Cabarete.
We would like to ask for any links in English to articles about your cause in Bat Galim, and the arguments you used to stop the developers.
Any information you have of similar causes from around the world will help, too.
Most importantly, please let me know if you were able to find proof or samples from other parts of the world where "developers" actually ruined a town due to careless construction.
If you received any kind of help from International organizations, please send us their names.
Thank you,
Ari Barshi
